The common idea of Markus Jurditsch, Thomas Siebrecht and Reinhold Walz was: “Let’s found a manufacturer-independent planning office that orients the planning exclusively to the benefit of the customer”. On July 1, 2003, they put the idea into practice and founded SWJ Engineering GmbH in Griesheim near Darmstadt.
The name of the company is derived from the first letters of the 3 founders. From the very beginning, SWJ has been an engineering office with a wide range of services, from the planning of individual areas to project management, consulting services, implementation support and ramp-up management of entire factories worldwide.

The company quickly established itself on the market and grew organically, as well as through the acquisition of further companies. Today, it has a global presence with several branches: there are subsidiaries to be found in China, England, Austria, the USA and Canada.
